Check out the brand new trailer for the upcoming horror film The Exorcist: Believer!

Exactly 50 years ago this fall, the most terrifying horror film in history landed on screens, shocking audiences around the world. Now, on Friday, October 13, a new chapter begins. From Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green, who shattered the status quo with their resurrection of the Halloween franchise, comes The Exorcist: Believer.

Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Tony winner and Oscar® nominee Leslie Odom, Jr.; One Night in Miami, Hamilton) has raised their daughter, Angela (Lidya Jewett, Good Girls) on his own.

But when Angela and her friend Katherine (newcomer Olivia O’Neill), disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.

For the first time since the 1973 film, Oscar® winner Ellen Burstyn reprises her iconic role as Chris MacNeil, an actress who has been forever altered by what happened to her daughter Regan five decades before.

The film also stars Emmy winner Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale, Hereditary) as Victor and Angela’s neighbor, and Grammy winner Jennifer Nettles (Harriet, The Righteous Gemstones) and two-time Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz (Fosse/Verdon, Bloodline) as the parents of Katherine, Angela’s friend.

When The Exorcist, based on the best-selling book by William Peter Blatty, was released, it changed the culture forever, obliterating box office records and earning 10 Academy Award® nominations, becoming the first horror film ever nominated for Best Picture.

The Exorcist: Believer is directed by David Gordon Green from a screenplay by Peter Sattler (Camp X-Ray) and David Gordon Green, from a story by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills), Danny McBride (Halloween trilogy) and David Gordon Green, based on characters created by William Peter Blatty.

The film is produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse and by David Robinson and James G. Robinson for Morgan Creek Entertainment.

The executive producers are Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, Stephanie Allain, Ryan Turek and Atilla Yücer. Universal Pictures presents a Blumhouse/Morgan Creek Entertainment production in association with Rough House Pictures.

Director Ari Aster and actor Joaquin Phoenix have been spotted scouting filming locations for their upcoming movie Eddington in Estancia, New Mexico.

The duo recently collaborated on the tragicomedy Beau Is Afraid which got mixed reviews from critics and fans a like. Aster is known for his horror directing with Midsummer and Hereditary.

Check out photos of the two together with fans in New Mexico:

About Eddington:

According to an interview from La Reppublica (via World of Reel), the film is a contemporary western that takes place in a fictional copper mining town in New Mexico during the pandemic.

In a Reddit AMA, he said, “Although it’s sort of a – I don’t know if you’d call it a revisionist western. It’s contemporary; one foot is in the western and one foot is even more heavily in the noir genre. So it’s like a film noir ensemble western dark comedy.”

Actress Emily Blunt recently commented that she has had discussions with her husband/director John Krasinski and co-star Cillian Murphy about finishing A Quiet Place 3 sooner, rather than later. But she will only do the third film if all parties are 100% on board and involved.

During a discussion with Josh Horowitz to promote Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer which she stars, Blunt spoke on making the film, thoughts on an Edge of Tomorrow sequel, superheroes, and even a bit about her own childhood.

When the conversation turned to A Quiet Place, Blunt began by saying how surprised she was by her husband’s talents behind the camera. Then, when quizzed on if the plan is to finish the trilogy eventually, she revealed she’s already been talking about it with Krasinski and Murphy.

”Cillian and I were having a chat about it with John last night. We were sitting on a rooftop all together, drinking wine.” Blunt remarked, “It would have to be that we would all do it together. I don’t want it to be with a different director.”

She also hold Horowitz that they had to take a break before doing another movie together as filming the other 2 films had taken over their home life. She compares it to “a wild horse in our house”.

While we all wait for the final film in the Blunt/Krasinski story, we have the prequel movie A Quiet Place: Day One coming. Pig’s director Michael Sarnoski taking up the chair, not John Krasinski. The story focuses on a whole new story with different characters and stars Lupita Nyong’o (Us), Alex Wolff (Hereditary), Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things), and Djimon Hounsou ( A Quiet Place: Part II).
