Directed by Yon Motskin, the new docuseries from Amblin Entertainment, Boardwalk Pictures, and VICE Studios will consist of four different tales of bizarre events and encounters with extraterrestrial life forms that gained both global attention and suspicion. It will include interviews with authorities from various fields and other coverage from reputable news organizations.

Each episode will tackle different stories, one of which explores the alien encounter a group of children in Zimbabwe experienced. Furthermore, Encounters will also highlight the unknown creatures that once tampered with the Japanese nuclear power plant’s operations and a mysterious submersible spacecraft seen off the coast of a Welsh village, as well as revelations from military whistleblowers and secret programs that aim to deep dive into the otherworldly phenomena often dismissed as mere conspiracy.

The docuseries includes interviews with a naval intelligence cryptologist, a journalist, a nanotechnology engineer, and a former NASA research scientist.

“As told from the perspective of firsthand experiencers – in the places where the sightings occurred – and guided by cutting-edge scientists and military personnel, the series goes beyond the science to highlight the profoundly human impact of these encounters on lives, families, and communities,” the synopsis reads. “A timely and timeless cosmic detective story, what will be revealed from this puzzle of seemingly unrelated encounters across different places, times, and cultures is a set of uncanny similarities, and one astonishing truth: extraterrestrial encounters are global, awe-inspiring, and unlike anything we’ve ever imagined.”

A24 had put out some teases that it would be making that hand available but today, when the film became available on VOD, it made the official announcement of the Talk to Me Party Hand.

Twin directors Danny and Michael Phillipou made their full feature debut with Talk to Me after a successful YouTube channel set them on the way to this movie becoming a reality and thrust them into a world of sequels and Street Fighter adaptations.

The movie sees a group of teens discover the aforementioned embalmed hand that can summon spirits. The teens get possessed by the spirits and use it as a supernatural high. Of course, one bad trip turns the whole thing sour when something nasty gets brought back.

Burton told The Independent that Beetlejuice 2, which is currently scheduled to release theatrically in September 2024, had less than two days left of filming to finish when the SAG-AFTRA strike began.

“I feel grateful we got what we got,” Burton said. “Literally, it was a day and a half. We know what we have to do. It is 99 percent done.” 

Here is what we know about Beetlejuice 2:

Director Tim Burton and Warner Bros have long discussed making a sequel to the 1988 horror comedy starring Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder, but the project didn’t start breaking major ground until 2022. Little is known about the plot at this time; however, it was previously announced Keaton, Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara are all reprising their roles from the first film. They’ll be joined by newcomers Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe.

Burton is once again directing the movie, which is based on a story by Seth Grahame-Smith and features a screenplay by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

“Beetlejuice 2, I really enjoyed it,” Burton said. “I tried to strip everything and go back to the basics of working with good people and actors and puppets. It was kind of like going back to why I liked making movies.”

Beetlejuice 2 is currently scheduled to release theatrically in the United States on September 6, 2024.

Well, we now know that series original Neve Campbell will be returning as Sidney Prescott and both the studio, director Christopher Landon and Neve Campbell all want a deal to finalize immediately. She was set to sign on for the 7th film right before the strike started.

Per Twitter’s CriticalOverlord: “Neve Campbell was negotiating her return for Scream 7 prior to the SAG/WGA strikes. Her participation may have been secured, similar to Christopher Landon signing on to direct.”

These are the same sources that broke the news and confirmed that Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon would be taking over the directing duties to finish the story.

Ethan Hunt has retired from IMF fieldwork. He trains recruits and has settled down with his fiancée, nurse Julia Meade, who is unaware of his real job. He is approached by IMF Assistant Director of Operations John Musgrave about a special mission to rescue one of his protégés, Lindsey Farris, who was captured while investigating arms dealer Owen Davian. Musgrave has already prepared a team for Ethan: Declan Gormley, Zhen Lei and old partner Luther Stickell. The team rescues Lindsey in Berlin and collects two damaged laptops. As they flee, Ethan discovers an explosive pellet implanted in Lindsey’s head. Before he can disable it with a defibrillator, it detonates and kills her.

9. Claire Phelps – Emmanuelle Béart (Mission Impossible)

Claire Phelps was an anti-villain/supporting protagonist who appeared in 1996 film Mission Impossible. She was the wife of rogue IMF director, Jim Phelps, and Ethan Hunt’s first love interest and friend. Claire and the IMF team attempt to retrieve the CIA non-official cover list from the American embassy in Prague. They failed with Phelps getting shot, Claire killed in a car bombing, and the rest of the team except Ethan Hunt eliminated by unknown assassins and supposed tech malfunctions. While a bit older now, she is a great character and deserves her place in the Hottest Mission Impossible Women list.

8. Zhen Lei – Maggie Q, (Mission: Impossible 3)

Lei is an IMF field agent who was recruited by Ethan Hunt during the events that unfolded in Mission: Impossible III. Great with firearms and hand to hand combat, Lei can handle herself in any situation. She takes on the evil and best Mission Impossible villain Owen Davian in a great bathroom fight and holds her own without needing much help from Ethan.

In the film, the story picked up a few months later finding newly married couple Marcus (Lil Rel Howery) and Emily (Yvonne Orji) inviting their uninhibited besties Ron (John Cena) and Kyla (Meredith Hagner), who are also newly married and have a baby, to join them for a vacation when Marcus lands an all-expenses-paid trip to a Caribbean resort.

“His reason for traveling there in the first place is to meet with the owners of the resort to bid on a construction contract for a hotel they own in Chicago. But when Kyla’s incarcerated father Reese (Steve Buscemi) is released from San Quentin and shows up at the resort unannounced at the worst possible moment, things get out of control, upending Marcus’ best laid plans and turning the vacation friends’ perfect trip into total chaos.”

The mega-shark sequel has found its audience in China where it has made $53 million of its $150 million worldwide box office. That’s over a 1/3 of the film’s revenue which is extremely impressive.

To compare, The Meg made $153 million in China in 2018, contributing a sizeable portion of its eventual $530 million haul worldwide. the film is a relative anomaly by today’s standards and actually outperformed the first film’s opening there.

Domestically the monster blockbuster has made just $37 million so far, but has faced stiff competition from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and the twin terrors of Barbie and Oppenheimer.
